| Once you have a tight concept and your lyrics fit and focus on that concept (in an original and unique way), then the next important step is to have the right attitude. What do I mean by attitude? Let me tell ya. Your attitude is the way you perform the lyrics. If your concept and lyrics are about something happy or exciting, then you gotta perform it with an exciting or happy attitude. If your song has a sad or angry concept, then you gotta perform with that kind of attitude!! You see ya attitude is what gives life to your song. It's what makes the audience feel what ya sayin'! If you don't have any attitude being expressed while ya performin' then your gonna bore anyone who's listenin'. If you have the wrong attitude bein' expressed while ya performin' (anger for a happy concept, happy for a sad concept, etc...) then your gonna confuse the audience and what ya sayin' is gonna have less power to it. HINTS: (This first hint might seem obvious or stupid, but I'll tell ya it anyway cause a lot of MC's don't seem to do it!) Practice in front of da mirror, so you can see what you look like when you rap. (You might not look the way you thought you did!) Think about ways to express what your sayin' with ya voice, ya face and ya body! Ya attitude, and havin' the right attitude is what makes the difference between rockin' the mic or gettin' da crowd movin, and someone that just goes up on stage and says a rhyme. There is a difference! And you've seen or heard it even if ya didn't know it! When ya gotta a tight concept, when yo' lyrics fit it and are focused on it, when you got da right attitude, then it's time ta check ya MUSIC. Ta go back and read about da CONCEPT click here. |
