| You got da concept, your lyrics are focused on it, your attitude fits, but you betta check your MUSIC or you'll still be missing a key element in performin'. You see, ya music needs ta fit ya concept just like ya lyrics and attitude do! Ya music needs ta "sound" like ya concept. It needs ta emotionally portray what ya concept is -- even before ya say a word. It needs to set da mood that ya want ya listeners in to get ya concept. There's not a lot more I can say about this area, because you need ta listen ta your music yourself (and have ya potnas check it out) to really "feel" if ya music fits ya concept. HINTS: Check ya tempo. Does it match ya concept? Do you need ta speed it up or slow it down ta create the right mood? Check the key your music is in (if ya know music). Minor keys usually make people feel sad or uneasy. Major keys are usually used for more positive feelin's. Check ya melody. Does ya song have a strong melody? A strong melody usually portrays a party vibe or excitement. Is the melody upbeat? An upbeat melody usually expresses joy, excitement, or happiness (positive feelings). Is ya melody slow and less active? An slow melody usually expresses sadness, fear, or uneasiness (negative feelings). Does your song not have a melody? Is it more abstract with a combination of sounds that don't really create a melody? A song that doesn't really have a melody and has a medium ta slow tempo can express sadness, fear, or uneasiness. A song that doesn't have a melody, but is fast paced and upbeat can express anger or other strong feelings. Ta read about the final step in this method click here.
