The FOURTH rule of performin' is thatYOU GOTTA INTERACT WITH THE AUDIENCE! This is another way to "get into it". It helps the crowd ta get into ya song more. It helps them to enjoy ya performance and feel a part of it. This is a lesson that the first MC's learned way back in the day when they would get the crowd ta say "Hey-ay!" and "Ho--oh!" and when they would get the crowd ta "wave ya hands in the air like ya just don't care!" That's interactin' with the crowd! Here are a few different ways ta interact with the crowd: 1. Get them ta repeat a phrase or part of a line in ya chorus. (This'll help'em ta remember ya chorus better!) 2. Get them ta do some kind of motion during one part of ya song. 3. Talk ta them (a little!) inbetween ya songs. 4. Make eye contact with different people in the crowd durin' and inbetween songs. Hints: -Sometimes it's good ta take time before a song and explain ta ya audience what ya want them ta do or say during a certain part of ya song. -Tell them (don't ask them) ta do what ya want them ta do when the part comes up in ya song! -Don't over do the crowd interaction thang. Only do it in some songs. (These last two hints were in the last rule, but they are important here too!) -Pay attention ta what other MC's do. Look for things ya like and don't like, so ya know what ta do and not ta do. -Pay attention ta what works with a crowd at one place and try it somewhere else ta see if it works with other people. (It usually will!) Back to da CRIB! |
