How do you feel about the state of Holy Hip-Hop in particular? As for the Christian scene, I see a lot of progress in 99' there is a lot of new albums out with a lot of variety. There is now some east coast in the market, which has been predominately GrapeTree. Grapetree is reaching a lot of peeps, and props for that, but there has been a big void for east coast, and different styles and that's being filled with the likes of Dirt (shadow of the locust), Knowdaverbs, Crossmovement, Brainwashed, myself, Grits, Sounds of the rebirth(priesthoods), and of course all the underground projects that are continually popping up. My point is....with more variety and styles we Will reach more souls for Christ. That's what it's about! How would you categorize ya style/music? My style is most definitely east coast as I'm a native of Philadelphia! I also mix a unique ethnic flavor in it as I have Greek and Spanish roots. There is a lot of meditterean Guitars and some lyrics in Greek and spanish here and there. There is also some RnB mixed in on some choruses, and even some reaggae and spanish reaggae. There's a little something for everybody. What MC's would ya love ta work with? There's a lot of Mcees I'd love to work more with in the future....Grits, Crossmovement(again), Sounds of the Rebirth, and madd others (underground as well)....I always like to feature a lot of guests, so the next joint will be guest filled once again. What can people expect from an Urban D album? What you can expect from "The Missin' Element" is an east coast sound highlighting the true elements of this culture (emcing, djing, b-boyin, graf art)....which I grew up with, and am currently involved in. True hedz will see the love I have for this culture, but even more they will see the love I have for the missin' element....that spiritual relationship with Christ! There's even a personal testimony on the album with an invitation to accept Christ into your life. Do you have any projects in the works? What ones and when will they be released? I have been working with several underground groups on the east coast who have projects coming out this summer that I will be featured on.... Sons of Intellect ( 7th Ave. Memories), The Strength (Overtime), The Huntas (Apacolyptic Saga) check our links page, T.R.I.B.E. ( True Revelations In Biblical Excellence), and Seventh Street Records will also be coming out with a compilation album sometime later this year with a song on it with me. You can be on the look out for another album in 2000 from me with Seventh Street, and yes I'm already working on it...you gotta stay fresh. |
