Dirt

I recently saw in an online Holy Hip-Hop discussion the question "Who do you think is the best emcee?" And among those listed was one name. The name that reminds us all what were made from. Dirt. The best emcee? Some would say so, but whether you have someone else in mind, or not, one thing you gotta admit about Dirt is that he stands out in a pack of emcees that have been takin' Holy Hip-Hop ta the next level. This cat is serious about his relationship with the Lord. He's serious about puttin' in work for the Lord. And not only that, this brother is DEEP! He makes the ocean look like a puddle. So be ready ta dig deep in this Dirt interview, and be careful or you might just be inspired!
Shadow of the Locust

How'd you get inta a relationship with Jesus?
Man....that guy was runnin me down. I've had my share of runnin away from God. but no matter were I went, and how lost I got....there was Jesus standin near me with his arms opened wide. I quickly realized around the age of 16 that no one can fulfill me like He can-- no one or no thing! It still has (and still is going to be) a hard road to travel with Him. Everytime I think I got it....I really learn how much I don't get it. every time I try to run it on my own strength, I realize how weak I really am without Him
What makes you different from other emcees? (Secular and Christian)
nuthin....we all have sinful natures, fleshly attitudes, and trials n' tribulations to hurdle. we are all tryin' to found out who God is through the thousands of twisted traps set up by the enemy. we all have good moments and bad. we all love our culture, and we all need salvation through Christs's work on the cross
Briefly explain the name of your album and the whole locust theme.
'Shadow of the Locust' is a network of God fearing, truth orientated people working in the realms of hip-hop to bring to light the good news to light. if you wanna know the full meanings behind the name...check the website or the enhanced cd and read the 'Locust Papri'.....it's a full testimony and mission statement. the PLAGUE album is the first album to come out of the group (my solo joint). if you read joel chapter 2...you'll get the reasoning behind that name.
What Christian emcee/group are you really feelin' right now?
I like people for who they are. The music they make is just music. Music preferences are just opinions. Opinions are not facts. A lot of people have the opinion that Jesus was a liar or a lunatic. but that doesn't change the fact that He is the Son of God. so I like groups that stick to the visions that God placed on their hearts....and that preach the gospel. Remnant Militia, Sackcloth Fashions, U.D., 'Locust' members, etc.
Who's your favorite emcee/group of all time? (Secular or Christian)?
Pidgeon John (christian) Jeru the Damaja (secular)
How would you describe your style of rap? (East Coast? West Coast? Southern?)
PENTE-coast-AL.
